Acknowledging the Land, Waters, and Peoples
I live and work on Treaty 6 territory in Parkland County, the traditional lands of the Nehiyaw (Cree), Niitsítapi (Blackfoot), Nakota (Stoney), and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. I acknowledge that this land has been cared for by Indigenous communities since time immemorial, long before my ancestors arrived. I commit to learning their stories and honoring their ongoing relationship to this place. Though I am still learning their full history, I recognize this legacy of stewardship and resilience.

With gratitude, I recognize that this land is more than a backdrop to my life; it is a teacher. My commitment is to remember, and to help others remember, how to live in relationship with the soil, the plants, the animals, and the waters that sustain us all. Through my work with horses, growing food, and tending to creatures who share this space, I promise to listen, to give back, and to steward this land with care—not as its owner, but as a humble participant in its story.
